Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty
At Taylor & Hart, we stand behind our products and warrant that all items will be free from manufacturing defects for the life of the products. If you believe your item has a manufacturing defect, we invite you to return it to us for inspection by our production team. If we determine your purchase is damaged due to a manufacturing defect, we’ll repair the product or, if we think it’s appropriate, replace it. If the item is no longer available, we may, at our discretion, replace with like-kind or allow a refund equal to the selling price of the original item.
If we determine that the damage is not caused by a manufacturing defect, then we’ll notify you immediately and let you know if repair services are available at cost or otherwise.
Please note that slight irregularities and variations in craftsmanship are unique and individual to each item. Natural characteristics or internal inclusions in coloured gemstones (visible or non-visible) are also unique and individual to each item. These characteristics are considered as part of the character of the item, and shouldn’t be considered a defect.
Complimentary Cleaning And Inspection Services On Diamond Rings
We recommend having your diamond ring cleaned and inspected annually or if it undergoes any potential trauma. Inspections may help prevent the loss of a stone and extend the life of your jewellery. This cleaning and inspection service is free of charge to UK Taylor & Hart customers on their Taylor & Hart rings. We kindly ask that you cover the cost of shipping back to us, and we’ll pay for return shipping. Repairs to your ring mounting can also be done at this time at cost.
For customers outside of the US & UK, your ring must be returned to us in person at one of our showrooms. This is due to shipping costs and duties you may incur that are out of our control. Please ensure you’ve read the conditions below before submitting your aftercare request.
Conditions and Exclusions
The foregoing Manufacturer Warranty and Complimentary Services are available only to the person who purchased the covered product from Taylor & Hart.
Maintenance, repair, sizing or other service performed by someone other than Taylor & Hart will void your Manufacturer Warranty.
Fine jewellery is just as susceptible to normal wear and tear or damage as the rest of us. This is particularly true for rings since hands are regularly subjected to considerable hard ware as we go about our daily lives. We don’t provide warranties for damage due to normal wear, product loss, loss of stones or theft. Damage or loss that results from failure to obtain repairs necessary to maintain the integrity of the product are also not covered.
Some examples of common jewellery issues that are not covered by our warranty:
- Dents, knicks and scratches are inevitable and are not considered a defect
- Discolouration due to exposure to chemicals, make-up, swimming pools, hot tubs or bathing
- Rings that have been damaged or misshapen as a result of “hands-on” activities, such as weight-lifting, rock climbing, gardening, DIY etc. This includes cases where damage results in loss of stones.
- Prongs and precious metals, in general, wear over time and may require “building up” or restoration work as normal wear.
- Bent, caught or worn out prongs(s) allowing a stone to fall out or be lost due to normal wear or other damage.
- Lost stone or a stone has fallen out due to chipping or breaking caused by normal wear or other damage.
Rings that have special finishes, such as matte, sandblast or satin (among others) are particularly prone to natural wear, which will affect the appearance of the finish over time.
While most people find it takes a little bit of time to adjust to wearing a fine piece of jewellery, we recommend you follow the care instructions provided with your order.
Anything abrasive making contact with the ring will affect the finish. For example, workshops sometimes even use washing up pads to create a matt finish—that is how easy it is to alter a ring’s appearance!
Other hand-dominant activities like contact sports, getting out of a swimming pool or your ring making contact with hard surfaces such as keys or door handles will also contribute to a ring’s finish changing its appearance over time.
While it’s possible to have a ring returned to us so that its original finish can be restored, for any special finish (other than “polished”), our warranty doesn’t cover the cost of re-doing the finish. We can quote you on the cost of re-doing the finish.
